Art Featured : Collection of photographs of Mumbai Skyscrapers
About The Art :
Architecture photography involves a lot of elements like shooting residential places, interiors and hospitality. Capturing skyscrapers is also one of the elements of architecture photography. It involves capturing the views of skyscrapers from the tops of other buildings. The photos are taken from different angles and perspectives which makes it altogether more aesthetically pleasing.
Inspiration Behind The Lens:
Sanjog has always been fascinated by tall buildings and skylines ever since he saw them in the movies like Stuart little. He has seen the transformation of buildings from the late 2000s when tall buildings were sprouting all over Mumbai. He had aspirations of becoming a civil engineer and also hoard collections of replicas of tall buildings. But since this was not possible he took up photography as a medium to portray his love for skylines. He was thrilled when he saw images captured by Humayunn Niaz Ahmed Peerzaada and that became his instant inspiration. Initially, he captured the photos subconsciously but later he realized that he does have a knack for capturing and could sharpen his skills in photography. It gives him an adrenaline rush when he stands at a top of the building and captures the beauty of the view from up above. His mentor, Humayunn Peerzaada explained that you need to negotiate access to such high vantage buildings. Armed with this guidance and with burning passion in him, Sanjog set out to capture as many skyscrapers as he desired to. He harbors aspirations of standing on top of all of the skyscrapers and clicking a picture from all of them as a souvenir to take back with him to the ground.
Sanjog has been able to capture photos of 132 buildings till now in India and predominantly in Mumbai.
Thoughts That Run Behind Those Massive Buildings:
Sanjog describes that to capture the desired image he first needs to find a place on top from where the elevation or the view needs to be captured. He has been studying extensively about the cityscape of Mumbai, its geography, alignments, and so on. His study and knowledge help him expand his perspective and lends him the ability to shoot the required outcome. Securing permission from the building authorities beforehand is his top-notch priority. depending on the view and the distance, he chooses the right equipment to shoot. The timing is set according to the sun’s direction and the building’s orientation. His thought process is always visualizing a shot before capturing and then eventually coming out with the output.
