Amit Khanna , apart from being a passionate photographer from the fashion industry is also a highly influential writer , director and an actor. Having completed MBA in marketing , he further pursued hotel management studies owing to being inspired by his grandfather who once owned a restaurant. He believes Education is an extremely powerful tool in shaping a the mind of an individual .
Growing up, Amit received tremendous encouragement from his mother to be a part of various drama events. He excelled in dramatics, proving his mettle in writing for school as well as college magazines and later got an opportunity to work for popular companies like Reliance and Big FM. Even though he got lucrative offers in well-known companies, he felt something being a-miss and realized he couldn’t fit in like a glove and decided to pursue his true calling.
The journey embarked to his next destination received a setback when Amit , living near the sight of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks was shaken and disheartened . After a low phase that lasted four months , he finally was on the right track of life. Photography always at the back of his mind and he pursued it more like a hobby, capturing wonderful sights at numerous marathons. He admires the work of famed photographer Suresh Natarajan , but his inspiration swells from his journey that made him the person he is today!
Amit’s journey to becoming an ace photographer began with a simple start of uploading his work on Facebook which went viral in no time. Thereafter he shot consecutively for Lakme Fashion Week and India International Jewellery Week which got him in the limelight making his progress soar to great heights. His diligence and commitment towards his work blessed him with many awards. In 2016, he was honored with a prestigious Dada Saheb Phalke Award for his contribution to fashion photography
Inspite of reaching the stars , he’s got his feet grounded and doesn’t mind being a catalyst to someone’s pursuit of achievement . An ideal example of his good works was when he got a struggling model’s portfolio done at meagre amount after which the model was hired by an international agency.
Persistence and Dedication are his mantra to success and fame which has got him much following and likes on social media platforms. His followers are a source of joy in his life especially when it comes to brightening up a gloomy day for him.
Amit soon branched into writing and got his first break as a writer for the popular show “Roomies” on Channel V. After the garnering much success as a writer , he soon shifted focus to film-making . He directed his first film at a young age of 24 . His next film “Tutiya Dil” was released in 2012. Thereafter his professional graph soared high and there was no looking back.
Amit has worked on movies which theme around a strong social cause as he seeks to spread social awareness on various issues our society struggles with. He concludes with imparting words of wisdom ,” Don’t be dejected when you’re rejected . Have a strong ambition and don’t stop till you get where you want to be in life.”
