It isn’t easy to do what you love and love what you do for most people. Worldly obligations and work can come in between them. The talented Raenit Singh is a gifted individual in many things, but his gift of singing is unrivaled. Hailing from Northern India, he believes that it was his stay in western and eastern India and his association with the diverse culture that helped him explore and learn. But his road to becoming an admired singer was not without roadblocks. India has always undervalued skill and preferred education over it. It can cause quite a dilemma for artistic and talented students. Raenit also felt burdened by this thought of reasoning that exists in India. Raenit went on to study Engineering in Electronics and Communications. During a sporting event, an in-field accident ruptured his eardrum, but he wasn’t aware of the damage that occurred for quite some time. Upon seeking medical help, it was unclear as to whether the impairment was temporary or permanent or if surgery could help. The infection thereby spread to the throat area, and it affected him in his studies as well as singing. Hearing loss makes it difficult to sing and also it can break the confidence of any singer. Any surgery depended on the recovery from the infection, and the success of the operation was also not guaranteed. Not being able to do the thing he loved most, he went into depression. He got placed once his college finished, and the surgery happened around that time.
Even at his job, he was not enjoying himself. He felt like it was something he had to do to move forward. From being a creative worker in his profession, he became disillusioned due to the frustration of not being able to sing and the drop in his work was visible. He had a choice of going back to singing or continuing to do what he was doing, even though it had stability. He chose to sing again, which made all the difference. There was initial difficulty adjusting to doing musical shows again. What Raenit showed us was that his perseverance led him to realise his skill, and he went on to audition for shows once he got his confidence back.
Believing in his ability, he auditioned for the top musical shows in the country. There were setbacks on his journey, but he knew he had the talent to get selected. He believes that whatever has to come will come, but that doesn’t mean we have to stop; we need to find reasons to keep our head high and pursue what we believe can make us happy. His dream became a reality when he became a contestant in the singing reality show ‘Rising Star India Season 2’ and was among the top 10 singers in the competition. People have been financially as well as mentally affected in the time of Covid-19 but, Raenit remains hopeful of a better future filled with plans to innovate the music of our times.
With his love for music, Raenit started his academy “Sing-Along” , which is an e-academy for all aspiring singers who want to learn the basic of singing.
In 2019, he released his song along with Nupur Mehta which has already received huge love from his fan base ” Aaja re”
Raenit’s story shows us there will be setbacks and disappointments when we pursue something that we love, but it doesn’t mean we have to stop. We need to test our limits and rise beyond our reasoning of content, as we are capable of so much more. The journey of Raenit is far from over, as he looks forward to delighting us with plenty more melodious offerings.
