Bharatnatyam is an ancient dance form, deeply embedded in the Indian Culture. This dance form evolved from Sadir Attam which was practiced by the Devadasis in those times. It is thriving worldwide now and is gaining popularity. 

Inspirational Taal:

Sandhya had a knack for dancing since she was young and she has been perfecting the art form since then. She calls herself a practitioner of dance and is always striving to attain excellence. Her goal is to find herself through her dancing. She firmly believes that she expresses beauty through her dance and simultaneously becomes a better human being and a meaningful artist. Whenever she learns a new piece, she tries to put in her thoughts and perspective towards it. This in turn helps her to own her performance and adds a personal touch to the art. She desires to voice her heart out through her dance and she beautifully expresses it. 

Thoughts That Run Behind:

As a qualified artist, Sandhya emphasizes the importance of practice and learning. Even today, her learning process is constant. She shares that an artist should evolve and grow profusely to ace it in their art form. Whenever she practices a piece, she keeps on rehearsing it to gracefully perform. She challenges herself and learns from herself and her mistakes equally. Her generosity towards her art makes her stand apart from the crowd. 

A Peek Into Sandhya’s Life:

Sandhya is a trained Bharatnatyam dancer. She has been training for more than 20 years now. She had been passionate about dancing since a tender age and thus weaved her career and life around it. Her arangetram in Bharatanatyam took place when she was in 2nd grade. she did her graduation in this dance form from Kalakshetra and her master’s in fine arts from the Kalai Kaveri college of fine arts. She strongly feels that dancing completes her life and makes her feel at home.She is currently under the mentorship of Smt Karuna Sagari ( director of Bhakti Natya Niketan) and working as a principal teacher in Bhakri Natya Niketan from 2018.
