Type Of The Art – Classical Dance
Dance Featured– Kathak Dance
Art Form In General :
Kathak is one of the most elegant and famous dance forms of India. It’s concept revolves around storytelling with the help of gesture and rhythm of “ghungroos”. The performer should have an inexplicable charm with mesmerising footwork and graceful actions. Kathak is one of the eight classical dance forms in India and is the only dance form from northern India.
The grooves that went behind this graceful choreography:
Dance is like breathing to Aadya, and evolving as a classical dancer is the achievement of her dedication. Aadya has a whole different meaning for Kathak. But before diving into her journey..! She describes the BTS of this choreography.
She speaks that the choreography and the notion behind this video were impromptu. One day she wanted to push out a natural choreography from her side, which should not be plotted and practised. And that choreography holds a beautiful thought behind it, Aadya just wanted to assume a world of dance with closed eyes. And then whatever she sees should come out with flow. So in one night, the whole idea was impressively cooked for the video..!
The challenge that she faced during this choreography was wet grass because of heavy rain before the shoot. But that faith and dedication towards her art didn’t pause her. Despite such difficulties, she didn’t move back and shot her video, and we can see that charm in her choreography.
The inspiration that twirls around choosing this art form:
Aadya acknowledges her Guru Ji as her inspiration throughout her journey. She describes her in one beautiful compliment, “You’ll be lost if you look at her, I still do!”. These words give a personal glimpse of the bond between Aadya and her Guru.
Also, she feels an unbreakable connection with dance, especially Kathak. She wants classical dance to blossom everywhere in India. Kathak is a charismatic dance form and is unique in itself. Aadya grew up learning this, and she believes that Kathak has made her bold and graceful both. And this is the magnificence of classical dance. Aadya adores this art and marks it as a significant part of her life because she hasn’t only learnt to wriggle on the rhythm, but she found her dignity in performing Kathak.
Brief about the choreographer:
Aadya is a certified Kathak dancer, her admiration for dance began at an early age. She was five years old when she met her teacher. And from then onwards her journey to spin around with grace started. Aadya completed her graduation and wanted to do something that will provide her elation. And there she decided to embark onto the journey from passion to profession.
It’s been 20 years now, and she is still learning relentlessly to sharpen her dancing skills. Aadya speaks, “The journey has been a roller coaster, but the most beautiful one”. With due respect and love, she gives all the credit to her teacher and family. Aadya considers her parents as her most powerful support system and her most honest critiques. Today also, Aadya’s father captures her dance video and motivates her to be unstoppable. Her mother makes sure that Aadya should look adorable in her dance performances. And her sister inspires and pushes her to improve every time.
Aadya’s most immense wisdom and bits of advice for the newbies:
Aadya firmly believes that learning in life never stops. Set long-term goals, keep practising and never lose confidence. Just be loyal towards whatever you’re doing and make every struggle count. Because soon, your hard work will be paid off..! With this, she dedicates one song to all the upcoming artists, “Dil hai Chota sa, Choti si Aasha, Masti bhare mann ki, bholi si Aasha, chand taaro ko chune ki Aasha, aasmaano mei, udhne ki Aasha.”
Before ending with this blog, Aadya wants the nation to understand the essence of classical culture. She believes that classical dance is unique and creative, so it should be encouraged in society. And one should never disdain any art form because this is what makes our INDIA more attractive.
