Neel is the punster that one can easily relate to. He is a one-of-kind Content Creator who has his ways of making people laugh. From curating content around mundane things to developing his own narratives around the workings of everyday life, Neel has managed to make the most of his talent to celebrate humour in the digital forum.
In conversation with Neel, he reminisces his childhood days, college days, and speaks of how he grew into the person he is today.
An extroverted prodigy at art, young Neel participated in competitions and extracurriculars at school. At the age of 15, he pursued dance professionally and started teaching and choreographing. After acquiring a degree in Commerce from Somaiya College, he became persistent in acquiring another degree in Arts from JJ School of Arts; however, he couldn’t get through. The next best thing to get done for himself was the Foundation course in Art that spanned a year’s duration.
“I learned a lot of aspects related to art, culture, painting, drawing, and even architecture – that was a good art course,” says Neel.
Neel also dabbled in other forms of art; he participated in exhibitions and events. He was stunned when he was awarded the first prize in a photography contest. Neel spoke of how he realised that he had untapped potential in digital artwork.
He realised he had an immense amount of interest in 3D drawing, “Creating something out of something” was his mission and “Keeping it raw” has always been his principle.
A pressing need to pursue what he believes in, to be original, and take that originality to scale greater heights has always been Neel’s mantra in everything that he creates.Neel’s academic experience at JJ School of Arts put him through a 180-degree transformation. He goes on to describe his experience as something that he cannot concretise with words. “The College shaped me and moulded me into who I am today. I learned a lot of things there, how to handle people, their mentalities, it was one hell of a ride! The situations at college helped hone my creative side. There was chaos with a lot of learning. I used to be an impatient man, and I changed that, college brought in an increased level of will power in myself” says Neel as he recollects fond memories of his days at JJ School of Arts.
Neel dabbled in creating and editing digital content. He collaborated with various artists online and offline. He did a social media campaign for Raj Thackeray, which brought him hands-on experience when it comes to social media strategizing. He made stints on YouTube and Vines with popular content creators like the Focused Indian (Karan) .He started the channel named “Humour Us” on Youtube with Karan. On this channel they did a lot of sketch comedy videos.
Neel also has a channel on YouTube named as “FLOW”.This channel is way far different as it is a collection of Art work he does and also his brilliant work on Visuals and Music. All the original songs of this channel are on Spotify.
Neel worked as a freelancer in content production and was also hired to play the role of a Social Media Head for Bhadipa (Bhartiya Digital Party). He has worked with Sarang Sathaye in Bhadipa. He has also directed some videos for Bhadipa. He recalls how he wasn’t creative enough when it came to performing a job role, but his financial situation left him with little to no choice. Having to deal with a financial crisis can break anybody’s spirit, but Neel was well aware of it. He acknowledged the systemic condition he was subjected to, but he also knew that he could overcome this.
He had to tread the path, no matter what kind of pit stops he would have to make.
Neel, being Neel, took all this in stride, worked hard, stayed true to himself and currently runs a successful social media profile to display his work. He makes people laugh, connect and share bonds. It is needless to mention the kind of impact he has on ordinary people’s lives, just by looking at the attention he has garnered from the masses online. As per Neel, the only way to make an impact is by trusting your instincts and being true to who you are. Success is the byproduct of all the efforts you take to follow your passion. ‘Let the art speak for itself’, is the kind of vibe he has got flowing into all of his posts online.
His mantra, “Keep it Raw, Keep it Real” has been his success guide in many ways, and who’s contesting it? Make sure to follow him on his social media pages on YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook – @just_neel_things and give yourself a daily dose of humor and inspiration!
