VastraGranth: Exploring and experimenting with new styles for men by budding influencer Sunny

Owner of the clothing brand, Vastra Granth, an exclusive design studio for men and online influencer, Sunny had recently created waves on Instagram with one of his makeup videos. While the video became viral with a mixed reaction from the audience, it helped Sunny gain a greater audience who noticed his skills. It also helped him realize his video’s influence and the potential reach of his content across social media.Sunny grew up being an introvert, an ideal child, and a teacher’s pet in school. He was much loved and pampered by his family. Having had a family with many artistic talents, Sunny grew up who was naturally inclined towards art and craft. He saw his dad painting, while his mother was a singer, his grandmother, who loved doing embroidery, while his grandfather was a jewelry designer.

Although having had many creative roots in his family itself, designing and blogging as a full-time profession was not something Sunny could take up right away. Most of his family members were into disciplines of engineering or worked as doctors and scientists. Taking up design was unconventional and not very convincing for Sunny’s family, so he decided to complete his engineering graduation. Even in college, he did well in his studies and topped in class. Eventually, he moved to Bangalore and started working in the IT sector.

Sunny pursued digital content creation and designing more as a hobby while doing a full-time job. He started out small as a style consultant for his friends, realized its potential, and received the right kind of support and encouragement, decided to take it up more seriously. He invested more time into digital content creation using Instagram as his platform. Although he joined Instagram in 2012, as his followers grew organically, Sunny realized how his content influenced more and more people. He then started posting more content and took up blogging seriouslyThe inspiration behind creating Vastra Granth was to provide men with exclusive designer wear, especially in the Indian wear section. The majority of leading designers and stylists in India focus on outfits for women, and Sunny feels there’s a lesser focus on fashion for men. “Men too like to experiment!” feels Sunny and wanted to start Vastra Granth with this niche area focusing on stylish designer outfits for men. Sunny himself loves Indian wear and feels there’s much to explore in stylish outfits out of dhotis, kurtas, and scarves. On being asked about the inspiration behind the name, Sunny says after much brainstorming, he came across the movie name Prem Granth that made him choose Vastra Granth.What makes Vastra Granth and Sunny’s creations unique is his focus on experimental fashion and mostly focus on delicate, intricate work. He loves to work with handloom and Indian designs and fabrics. Something he was naturally inclined to pick, having seen his mother sew outfits at home as a kid. Sunny works with tailors to explain his ideas and designs and feels he is still learning a lot.

Seeing Sunny succeed in this field, he now receives greater support from his parents. He plans to pursue a master’s degree in design as a long-term plan and hopes to have his studio established for Vastra Granth with the proper available funds for the same. He manages a job to pay his bills while also continuing to produce content as a digital creator. While it does take a toll on him and gets stressful at times, he feels that as long as one enjoys what one is doing, it all feels worth it in the end. Investing time for both has helped him become more organized to meet his deadlines and deliver work to clients. However, it is not all work and no play for Sunny. He plans to take a break from his work, which he does occasionally just to unwind and spend time with his family and loved ones.
