Sayanta grew up as an ardent SRK fan, watching Bollywood films and never really thought of becoming an actor one day. . From taking up his career as a dancer and then transitioning into cinema was a complete change for him.Growing up in my early days, I didn’t have many friends and have always been an introvert” says Sayanta. He further adds, “I enjoyed playing video games and watching movies during my free time”. Sayanta discovered his passion and talent for dancing, watching Michael Jackson, and eventually learned his moves and steps. He gradually started participating in school and college fests as a guest performer and found a big break when he got selected for Dance India Dance. He made it to the top 60 finalists in Mumbai, Sayanta had to return to Kolkata but received an offer as a dance instructor in Remo’s Dance Institute, when he was merely 17. Finally taking it up as a career at such an early age, he started travelling to many cities for choreographing and continued his education in private. .
After completing his studies, Sayanta decided to continue his career as a background dancer but became hesitant to invest almost 4 lakhs on getting a permit issued that would allow him to work as a background dancer in Bollywood movies. Sayanta even got the opportunity to share the stage as a back dancer with Hrithik Roshan for the IPL opening ceremony. He gradually gained interest in TV shows and knew that he wanted to remain in this industry. He returned to Kolkata to continue in dance but found himself less enthusiastic in the career for lack of opportunity to grow. It was then that his choreographer suggested him to try his career in acting and it took as long as 8 months to be convinced enough to give it a shot. Sayanta auditioned for various roles without much success. Being occupied with building his physique, Sayanta struggled during those days, trying to maintain his strict diet regime while spending his entire days out for auditions. However, it did not deter his spirits.
Sayanta finds his decision to complete an acting course in Mumbai to be a life-changing one. He took the diploma course and emerged as a transformed person. Sayanta returned to Kolkata for financial reasons planning to return to Mumbai in future. Without much effort this time, he started receiving offers for various auditions until he found his big break as a lead in Bengali serial Kajallata. Sayanta went on to work in various other serials and mega-serials on Bengali channels like Jai Kali Kalkattawali , Rakhi Bandhan,Thakumar Jhuli and his latest one being Beder Me Jyotsna on Sun Bangla Tv .
Sayanta has been a very active person on social media and enjoys interacting with his fans. His latest project was taking up Youtube vlogging more seriously. He previously tried uploading videos but was not regular , Sayanta resumed vlogging on Youtube just before the lockdown started in March 2020. From almost giving up, due to lack of viewership to creating a big fan base, Sayanta now enjoys creating content on Youtube for his viewers. His goals have always been aligned towards being on-screen, and he finds himself the happiest when he is engaged and occupied with projects.
