Shraddha Jain is a former RJ, an Instagram sensation and an actress famous for her role in Amazon Prime Video’s Pushpavalli starring the famous stand up comedian Sumukhi Suresh. The show earned excellent reviews from viewers, especially Shraddha’s characterisation of the landlord earned rave reviews.

Shraddha finished her education and worked in the technical wing of the likes of Goldman Sachs when she finally gathered the courage to tell her parents that content creation is something that kept the fire in her belly burning. She soon landed a job as a Radio Jockey in Bengaluru and went on to host one of Bengaluru’s most famous Breakfast shows for 9 glorious years!

She couldn’t emphasize enough about how a stint as an RJ structured her content creation journey. She reminisces that she just had 120 seconds in every hour to make an impact as an entertainer and an informer among many roles she played as an RJ. She believes her stint in Radio taught her the basics and fundamentals of content creation, which she later realised was the foundation for content creation across all formats.

She then realised that she had the strengths to keep the audience engaged as her basics were quite strong. Meanwhile, she decided to use Instagram as a platform to showcase her talent as a typical Tullu, trying to stereotype the wing of South Indians and making it relatable to a plethora of Tullu speaking audience.

Shraddha, now a mother, says that the response she got for her character on Instagram was very heartwarming after her videos went viral on WhatsApp among an entire community. She got messages from moms who said that their kids wouldn’t eat food until her viral videos were played on the phone; which she says was the best compliment she ever got.

She landed her role with Pushpavalli by sending an audition on WhatsApp. She further adds that the reduction of cost of data in India, makes content creation and auditioning for roles much simpler than before. Shraddha believes that YouTube and Instagram are a blessing as they make auditioners reach out to content creators for roles rather than the other way around.

Shraddha currently heads the Non-Fiction Program for Viacom 18. Over the years, she has realised that content creation requires a lot of discipline. Other artists inspire many artists and this is how they learn the craft. Shraddha learnt it similarly, but she kept practising it regularly when she imbibed the discipline behind content creation.

She advises young and aspiring content creators to keep practising their craft, inculcate the discipline and not make fun at the expense of someone’s emotions. Shraddha has always made sure that her content was fun for all kinds of audiences and hurtful to none. Shraddha has been an achiever, an inspiration and she finally leaves us with her biggest learning from life, “Don’t ever talk about things you have no clue about!”
