As Mr. Sachin Shigwan quotes, “You get only one life, Live with a purpose, and give back to society”. And he very well justifies his words with his initiative.

Meet Sachin Shigwan – The Solar Man of Maharashtra, MD of Green India initiative Pvt. Ltd. He is a social entrepreneur and social engineer. He founded this company in 2009 and worked tirelessly. He achieved his first milestone by registering his company in 2014 and added the brick of his NGO in 2015

His vision is totally different from the common business norms which are laid out in society. He has fused social work and business into one to bring out a completely new concept. He wanted to contribute to the community and also earn back because of his not so economically feasible family. He always thought of sustainable development as a priority. Consistency is his motto.

His journey started when he was in college. He joined various groups and Rotary Club to get the idea about how the field works. He learned a lot in those years and attained all required knowledge and skills required to set foot in the industry.

The company basically focuses on Solar based sustainable projects. They reach out to various NGOs, corporate sectors and companies to invest in their project. They basically act as an intermediary between the investor and the client. They manage all the process, assistance required, solar resources and everything required for the project. They just seek out monetary fund from the investors to boost up the project.

The reason behind choosing solar energy as a product is because it is renewable, environment friendly and has become financially viable. People nowadays do trust this energy for their usage. Intially they provided solar lanterns which received a lot of recognition. Then they started giving out solar cooker which was very helpful in both domestic and industrial sectors.
Steadily they started taking up village projects, wherein they would take the initiative to light up the whole village. They used grid system to supply energy at their homes and schools equally. Also, in Maharashtra, Anganwadi is a really popular concept. It is a pre school where various kids come to learn the basics. Anganwadi did not have electricity and so they were deprived of basic necessities. So Sachin’s company provided them solar energy as well. Along with this, rural schools also received energy in abundance for recreational activities.

The company provides varied products according to your needs, some of them are agarbatti making machine, atta maker, sewing machine, cold storage, bakery oven and so on. And the products are really feasible as they work on solar energy itself. They are available nationally and soon they are going overseas as well.

The main motive of Green India is to bridge the gap between the client and the investor. They always try to come up with innovative projects and also practice social engineering. Social engineering primarily includes surveying and making people aware in the society. Green India aims to create a win win situation for both the parties. Customer and investor satisfaction is their dictum.

Even though their initiative is so kind and beneficial, they have received setbacks as well. Since Sachin didn’t come from well off family he had struggles to understand business. He needed support and people don’t easily put in themselves to something so new and unique. They take considerable time to understand facts and join the cause. Convincing people is an art and it was much needed here.

One of the remarkable works of their company is that they have supplied to Indian Army as well. They provided solar cookers and panels to them. They received a lot of appreciation and recognition from them. Along with this they have collaborated with various other companies for the good cause.

Sachin learned a lot out of his venture. According to him greed Is the biggest enemy of mankind. You should be satisfied with whatever you have in hand. Also the youth needs to conserve the environment from its depletion.

We have to turn to renewables and save as much as we can for us and generations to come.Another pearl of wisdom by him was, “You are mortal, your work is immortal”.
We would end this by a song he dedicates to himself and his life, “Jeena yaha, marna yaha, iske siva jaana kaha”
