This young food blogger is a huge believer in destiny. She believes her journey has been a result of the same. And what a journey it has been.
A BBA graduate, her Food blogging journey began back in 2017 after a friend persuaded her to start posting actively on her Instagram feed. Subsequently, she started getting invited to different food bloggers meets. She went through a cyst removal surgery and suffered chronic anxiety in the same year. Both of which were life-altering experiences for her.
In conversation with this Delhi born and bred girl, she shared some fond childhood memories of visiting Punjab and her ancestral town during vacations. A true narcissist as a child, she would dress up, put on shades and click self-portraits. She was a true “star of the house”, in her mother’s words. She’d always be found near the refrigerator, and that’s probably where her love for food began. She also loves travelling to different places and exploring different cultures and food.
Bhawna reached the 1K mark within just two months, which she celebrated with her friend at McDonald’s. After hitting 10K, she made a figure of the same using Gol Gappas! Her handle was earlier called ‘A date with food.’ She eventually changed it to ‘A date with life’, as she wanted to diversify by uploading travel & lifestyle content too.
A self-proclaimed introvert, Bhawna believes everyone should upload whatever they like on their feed, and not follow the popular narrative. She also endorses the idea of constantly reinventing oneself. She did the same by uploading recipe videos during the lockdown. Her sister would cook while she’d manage the setup and make videos. Her family has been a significant part of this process, and massive support too.
Her Dad, who wanted her to give Bank exams or do something more stable until some back time, is undoubtedly at ease seeing her progress. On the other hand, her sister insists on switching to fashion blogging, being the more popular field in her sister’s opinion. Bhawna, however, disagrees. Food is her one true passion, it seems.
When asked about her inspirations, she says, “I’m constantly keeping a tab on the work of German and American food bloggers. I love them for their styling tips and photography.”
Bhawna grabbed her first brand collaboration with Vigo video App after hitting 8K followers. She then went on to work with brands like Samsung, Dominoes, and Roohafza, amongst others.
Like most Dilliwallas, she’s crazy about Momos too and swears by the street side ones. “On days when I’m having mood swings or cramps, I like to indulge in Italian food. It soothes me and provides some much-needed comfort,” she confesses.
She vividly remembers being stared at in her early blogging days. People’s gaze while filming her videos used to make her uncomfortable at first. Over time though, realising that it’s her work. She’s learnt to deal with it, and the same is evident in her videos!
Talking about the less pleasant side of social media, online trolls, she admits to engaging with them initially by replying to their comments and messages. However, now she’d just block them after reporting their profiles. This young food blogger knows the ins and outs of the job now and has finally taken the decision to make this her full-time career and plans to open a YouTube channel soon!
Since the lockdown gave her a lot of quality time with herself, she’s been spending it on her balcony, absorbing the mesmerising evening views and listening to her favourite tracks (She swears by Shakira and Rihanna) while catching up on hobbies like painting and sketching.
