Arjun Manohar – Man of Many Talents
Arjun may be a successful music producer today, but he had to go through his fair shares of struggles to get to where he is today. He grew up in a family that wanted him to be a chartered accountant. He was studying to be a CA via correspondence. He didn’t go to college. During the time, he was free to explore that he realised he wanted to do something in life that would involve a camera and music. He managed to achieve his dreams on his terms.
Career and journey to fame
Arjun had wanted to be a filmmaker when he finished college. However, he didn’t have many resources to make his short film. When he approached someone to create a music score for his film, he realised he could not afford to pay them. When he decided to do it himself and made his music. In 2015, he worked as a social media manager and learned most of his skills. He also met a lot of people and gained contacts.
Arjun says that he has not learnt music conventionally and has taught himself, mostly from watching YouTube videos. He had been making music from 2015, but his first public track was released in 2018. He had to make a lot of bad music to learn and get better at his craft. Arjun has always wanted to write, direct, edit and make music. He feels that he still has a lot to learn.
Inspirations and influences
Though Arjun always felt his work wasn’t that great and he could do better, he got great responses when he finally released music, and now he has a significant fan-base. He wanted to combine his love for comedy and music, so he decided to make music out of memes. This helped him reach a larger audience. Arjun is very inspired by Tanmay Bhatt. In the recent past, he has become an ardent Tanmay Bhatt fan. Tanmay’s growth process inspires him as content creation, and Arjun aspires to recreate that success someday. He currently has 34.7k followers on Instagram, and his posts get a lot of engagement.
Family life
Talking about his struggles, Arjun says that he has been lucky enough to have a privileged and comfortable life. He has had a normal and comfortable childhood. Arjun’s mother has been his pillar of support and has always stood by his creative decisions. He had a rough patch with his father, where his father didn’t favour his career choices.
Challenges
His greatest challenge has been his self-doubt. But he is in the right place now, and he was helped by creating content and getting validation from strangers. Arjun feels that his life’s purpose is to keep people around him laughing and having a good time.
Arjun doesn’t want to be stuck into a bracket of a comedian or music producer. He wants to remain versatile and prefers to be called an entertainer. He likes to do multiple things but wants to be consistent with creating content. His advice to aspiring content creators is to be consistent and take note of audiences’ responses.
