Our energetic influencer Kean Lewis is a footballer and certified coach from USSF, NJCAA and SFA.

Trailing back to his childhood Kean has wonderful memories to share with us. He was an introvert as a child but he used to play a lot. He took part in almost every extra curricular activities and was good at running ever since. He was an athlete and he used to take part in various tournaments to hone his skills.

He excelled in athletics, football and swimming. He also reached national level and won state championships. He always used to explore new things and tried to ace in it. He joined swimming to increase his stamina. He also tried sprinting and that ended up pretty well. He was a hyper kid for sure.

After all this, he realised that football was what fascinated him and he felt connected to the game. He joined a football academy and also represented his school in matches. He was featured in various newspapers which helped him gain more confidence and recognition. Since Kean was based in Thane, his principal advised his parents to take him out of Thane and let him learn more about football since Thane couldn’t offer much opportunities. And he was a budding star, a little more practice and he could smash the game. His principal saw the potential in him and so his parents complied.

As Kean moved out he played for varied clubs and championships. He played for Mahindra United as well which is renowned club for football. When he was merely 13, he played for state. He was the youngest in the team but was more energetic than any player. His first national level game was at age of 16. These things honed his skills day by day and he became a polished player.According to Kean, education is very important. He was juggling between his game and his curriculums. Since he was working really hard and his teachers were seeing that and so he was given few concessions. But in return of that he had to play well and add up his achievements. He had to set a certain benchmark to receive negotiations. Talking about another important aspect of his life that is him turning Vegan. As Kean states that he grew up eating meat 3 times a day so shifting to vegan was quite tough. A major health issue took toll on him which was a disease related to the immune system. It was persistent for a long period of time and it affected him and his game equally. He had to take a break from football for treatment. His cousin was a nutritionist and she suggested that he should go vegan. It had several health benefits and it would help him recover faster. It took 4 to 6 months for him to get back on track. He tried all holistic approaches for healing and eventually they worked. And later after a lot of research he contemplated that going vegan was helping his health and game so he chose to remain one always.

Kean’s life took a turn when he went to the USA. He worked as a football coach there and got his all licensed certificates from there itself. He was into personal and group training and people were reciprocating well to his initiative.
He got back to India in 2015 and here he again played for many federations and clubs. Along with this he took up trainings, worked for YMCA, did counseling and guided as many people as possible. He believes in giving back to society.

Currently our dynamic influencer is studying and playing. He has taken up various courses which are football oriented and one of them is from Barcelona. He is learning and practicing to ace it in his game. For his future endeavours he doesn’t have a certain goal but he focuses on the importance of education. He comments that education and passion should go hand in hand. In respect to his field he says that sports is uncertain and we cannot solely depend on it for a source of income. And that’s where education comes into the scene. If we’re well educated then we have vast options in front of us. He is in favour of coaching and training when he leaves the game and also wants to manage a club. So that he stays connected to his sole love for life. Having a dual career is what makes life process smooth, quotes Kean. His role models are Steven Gerrard and Sunil Chhetri. But he learns from everyone. He believes that everyone has something to give or the other.

Kean’s two cents of advice to everyone is don’t quit education, move out of your comfort zone, get a lot of exposure, understand tactics of the game and physical well being and nutrition is very much important to stay in the game. It all depends on yourself on how you make it.
