The story behind this incredibly realistic picture

Mohit Khetrapal narrates the beautiful and the inspirational story behind this capture with immense eagerness. He mentions that it was in the season of monsoon and the children were playing at the ghats of Varanasi. It seemed like it was their regular routine to play and jump near the shore and often dive into the holy river, these children were full of joy and excitement.

Mohit was observing these activities that were happening around him, and suddenly two brothers caught his attention. He saw how the older brother was teaching jumping techniques to his younger brother as the younger one was using incorrect postures to jump from the height. All this made him overwhelmed, and he started capturing all those teachings. He has also named this picture as ‘The Teacher’.

Monsoon is all about creating memories and reminiscing memories!

The creativity that went behind this photograph:

Mohit Khetrapal loves to capture the stories that play around him in the real world. This picture has positioned a different place in his heart as he received his first-ever International Award i.e Siena international photo award for this photograph which also portrays the blissful relationship between monsoon and kids. And embracing the beautiful story of this picture, that depicts the golden bond between two brothers caring for each other and having fun in their own world.

Brief about the artist and why street photography as a career:

Mohit Khetrapal belongs from the beautiful city Varanasi also known as Benaras. As a child, he was more into painting and sketching. Being a bright student, he also represented his school in national level competitions. His talent was acknowledged in front of the whole school with immense appreciation.

His photography journey began when he was contributing to a Graffiti competition. One of his seniors took part in a photography competition, and there Mohit got introduced to a DSLR camera. He clenched the camera in his hand and clicked a picture there on the spot, which was so flawless that it got appreciated by his seniors too. That day he decided to learn all the photography skills. He worked so hard that he wasn’t required to borrow the camera after some time as his parents gifted him a DSLR which comforted him to evolve as a professional street photographer today. Also, his commitment and persistence encouraged his work at an international level too.

Street Photography looks simple to see, but it equally expects a mindset and skills to capture a story. Mohit chose street photography because he feels that it gives a different colour to an image. It constructs the energy and action into the picture and makes it more fascinating. We all have that one person, whom we are inspired by. Mohit also developed his inspiration from legend Henri Cartier-Bresson (father of street photography). His photographs emerged as energy and positivity in Mohit; that is how he initiated street photography.
