That’s right, nothing sums up the journey of the rising content creator and founder of the YouTube channel and Instagram Page “Humour Us” Karan Sonawane in a better way. Karan, a resident of Thane tells us about his simple yet roller-coaster journey.Just like any average kid, Karan recollects his “Hate – Hate“ relationship with his books. Since both his parents are bankers, they hoped for him to be one too. . Karan agreed, but somewhere down in his heart he knew that acting and content creation was where his true calling was.It all started for Karan when he first came across the famous web series TVF Pitchers and discovered a whole new genre of content. Content that he felt he could relate with, and that sparked his desire to take his first steps into the online media industry. He joined Ajay Sanstha, a local drama theatre in Dombivali. It played a vital role in setting the foundation for his dream and also helped him sharpen his acting skills to what they are today.

It was in 2015 that Karan started his journey as a YouTuber. With his parents constantly pressuring him to get a Bank job and settle down, he recollects that choosing YouTube was never the easiest option. However, Karan knew what he wanted and put his head down and continued working towards his goal.

Karan announces gleefully “I was always the class clown in school and the funniest person in the room!”. Stand-up comedy came naturally to him, so he decided to start off his YouTube channel by posting videos of his Stand-up, with few of his uploads hitting as much as 4 million views!

In 2017, I Karan hit the low as he was not able to shoot videos by himself due to technical issues and that`s when he met Neel Salekar and they brought the channel back to life with professional setting and enhanced viewer experience.

Exactly a year later, Karan hit the hard ground. He remembers 2018 as being one of the toughest years of his life. Neel moved to Pune for better opportunities and they planned to keep the running the channel but all in vain. He was struggling with his finances and had lost all the will to create any more content. He even considered leaving the Content creation field. From working in a call centre to attempting to prepare for bank exams, he tried it all. Only to rediscover his calling for content creation.

As Karan was preparing for his banking exams, he got an opportunity to perform a small piece of his stand-up comedy and he grabbed it with open arms. It was during that project where he was recognized by Sarang Sathaye for his YouTube channel. He recollects Sarang as being extremely supportive and giving him all the opportunities and the space to make content for his channel. Sarang, one of the founders of the famous Marathi Youtube Channel “Bharatiya Digital Party” famously known as “Bhadipa” was so impressed with Karan’s passion and his talent that he offered him a job at Bhadipa!. His dreams finally started taking shape when he started off by making memes for Bhadipa. His memes quickly took off, and the masses easily related to them. Within a short span, he moved to make vines for them and also wrote some comedy sketch for them. He is currently known for his relatable and comic vines/reels, which he posts on his Instagram profile (focusedindian).

Looking back he mentions that his struggle has been totally worth it. What keeps him going, he said, “I’m a football fan and I draw my inspiration from the video of the dramatic moment when Manchester City robbed Manchester United of their Premier League title win in the year 2011 – 12 in a rather astounding way and in the very last moment when United were inches away from victory and clinching the title. That video always reminds me, that it’s never the end till you don’t stop trying”.

While summing up his amazing journey Karan had one simple thing to say – “NEVER LET YOUR HOPE AND CHASE DIE”
