The Fitness Inspiration ‘Muscle Mom’– Mamatha

Fitness is the new craze in 2020 and people like Mamatha remind us that even successful fitness influencers can be humble and helpful. Mamatha grew up in a small village near Bangalore with an orthodox family. She was the eldest child in the family and has two brothers and was very pampered. She did her schooling from a government school and then took admission in a government college. However, in the third semester she had to drop out due to financial problems. She moved to Bangalore to look for a job to help her family. She worked as a telemarketing executive. She received a promotion and managed to move her family to Bangalore. She got married in 2013 and then quit her job.Mamatha gave birth to her daughter in August 2014. She experienced body image issues at this time because her weight was 98 kilos and she had stopped being concerned about her appearance. However, when people started criticizing and stating that she was overweight, she joined a gym. She managed to reduce her weight to 70 kilos and soon, it became her passion. She had been involved in dance and kabaddi when she was younger. She wanted to reach her goal weight of 60 kilos.

The gym where she was training had a manager who was very impressed by her passion for fitness and her way of working out. He offered Mamatha a position of a female gym trainer. She worked for 6 months. Her husband lost his job in 2017. At this time, Mamatha supported her family financially and did her certifications too. Then she decided that she wanted to focus on bodybuilding and muscles. She noticed that a lot of women were not into bodybuilding but she liked the idea of it. She started training under a coach and was preparing to participate in competitions. She participated in the Boss Classic Championship in 2018 in Goa in the bikini category.

It was a pathbreaking moment in Mamatha’s life as she belonged to an orthodox family and was posting pictures on her social media in a bikini. She got some negative comments, but also got support for her incredible journey. She went from weighing 98 kilos to participating in the bikini category, originating from a small village. Her family was always supportive of her. Soon after, she landed a movie role in ‘Yuvaratnam’ and filmed scenes with Puneet Rajkumar. She did more roles in movies and TV shows in 2019. She hopes to get more projects after the pandemic situation is resolved.Mamatha believes that hard work never fails and results will always show. She currently has 56.3k followers on Instagram and is popularly known as ‘Muscle Mom’. A female bodybuilder will experience changes in appearance, hormonal changes and even voice changes. Mamatha is an inspiration to young girls who want to pursue their passion of bodybuilding but are discouraged by society. She rejects people’s criticism telling her she looks less feminine. She believes that people need to change their mindset. People should be allowed to live their lives however they want. Mamatha is a proud feminist and is hoping to go international next year.
