The journey to becoming one of India’s most popular VJs started with becoming a DJ. Tarang has always been passionate about music and has been a movie buff for the longest time. Tarang is originally from Bombay, and has lived there his entire life. He has had more than his share of hardships in life. He lost his parents when he was young. But he does remember that they were very supportive of his love and passion for music. His love for music grew at a time MTV was the only platform to access music in India. When Tarang started his career as a DJ, it wasn’t a very well-recognized profession. Being a VJ was even more unheard of. Because of Tarang and his contemporaries, this profession has gotten a lot of recognition, and DJs and VJs have a spotlight on them now.

Tarang’s mentor and best friend has been DJ Aqeel. Tarang has known Aqeel since he was in 7th grade. The guiding force of Tarang’s career has been Aqeel. Aqeel came up with the idea of adding a video with the music he made. This idea struck Tarang as something he wanted to follow up on. Within ten days, they arranged a show and had massive projectors to show the video. The outcome was phenomenal, and people loved it. After that, the people attending Aqeel’s shows demanded that they wanted Tarang to be present and recreate the magic they had created with video.

Tarang has performed with many DJs, but his work was not limited to this Tarang has performed several times with many famous singers like Asha Bhonsle, Alka Yagnik, Sukhwinder Singh, and many others. Concerts need interesting visuals and projections, and people like Tarang can set an event apart.Earlier, Tarang only liked working with people he enjoyed listening to. But he has since grown and now likes playing with people whose music he hasn’t heard before. This expands his horizons. It is also important for Tarang to reflect the vision of the artist. His main aim is to energize the crowds and make sure they enjoy the show or concert. Weddings are very spontaneous and exciting.

Artists have adapted to the lockdown. Many events and parties are being conducted on Zoom, and Tarang has participated in many such events. However, he is grateful to have spent time at home with his wife Shivani and his 9-year-old son. He credits Shivani as the reason for him being able to continue his work seamlessly. Tarang misses travelling, and so do his wife and son. He has travelled the world with singers and for weddings.

Tarang loves being a VJ and wants to help as many newcomers in the industry as he can. He believes that it is important to support and nurture new talent so the craft can grow.
